Four-star 2024 prospect Dallas Thomas talks recruiting, commitment

It’s been a huge development year for one of 2024’s most underrated prospects, Dallas Thomas.

Nicknamed ‘Slim’, Thomas is a 6-foot-9, 170-pound small forward. He’s currently rated amongst the Top-100 prospects [top-40/75 depending on the outlet] but is a guy I see as a possible riser this summer due to his skillset and major upside.

We look at the modern-day NBA and you see all of these long wings, creating tons of space, and scoring a lot from multiple spots. Thomas fits that mend. I look at guys I’ve scouted over the last few years, I’ll take Peyton Watson as a recent example, both of which were long wings, and scored a lot from the outside, but also guys you don’t want to see at the rim.

That’s my interesting comp for Thomas, despite him still having a year of high school left, plenty of time to develop.

Thomas is already on the radar of almost every school in the country, but, in addition, Overtime Elite became the first professional program to inquire and reach out to Thomas and his camp last July. I see him as a kid who could consider all of his options, because who wouldn’t explore, but, he would dominate in college and I believe he knows that.

Thomas cut his list down to a final five: LSU, Arkansas, Memphis, Clemson, and Mizzou.

Thomas sat down with Stockrisers.com to discuss three of his finalists and also detailed a possible commitment timeline and a scheduled visit.

Which schools still remain heavily in the mix?

“Clemson, LSU, Missouri, and Memphis are most heavily in the mix.”

Any new schools or that’s the four you’re focused on?

“Ole Miss and Arkansas are still in the mix, just not as heavy.”

What’s Clemson’s pitch and your thoughts on them?

“Clemson’s pitch was how I fit in their program being a long-wing with high IQ and character. They like the versatility I bring and they let me know that I’m a top priority from the jump.”

How about your thoughts on Mizzou and Coach Gates?

“Love their program. They’ve pitched some of the same things with how I fit into their program. Coach Gates has always kept it real with me from the jump. They prioritize development which is something that is huge for me.”

How about Memphis and your thoughts on them?

“They have a history of long wings in their program that have thrived at the next level. I also have a relationship with Coach Penny, he’s a real genuine guy and I like the way he and his staff run his program.”

Are you done with visits or got some to plan?

“I got Clemson coming up on June 14th and then I’m looking to set a date for LSU and possibly Memphis.”

Is commitment coming soon?

“Yeah around Late-July.”

How has your game elevated over the last few months?

“Just being more consistent in the weight room, seeing a lot of progress with that, and also just being more dominant and aggressive, those are ways I’ve elevated for sure.”

And how would you like to keep elevating?

“Pretty much in those same ways, staying in the weight room and staying more aggressive.”

And what type of fit are you looking for in your college destination?

“A program that utilizes their wings and development plays a huge role in where I decide to go.”
