Top-25 junior Donnie Freeman speeding up his recruitment
Donnie Freeman was born in the Bahamas and hit the DMV when he was six years old. Now taking the basketball scene over there, Freeman is set to take the next few steps in his recruitment.
The Top-25 junior out of St. John’s High School is a 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward. He’s participated in several high-level camps and has also taken part in the prestigious USA Basketball camps.
Anyways, why we’re here? Freeman is set to trim down his list and has set a commitment timeline for the near future.
He discussed his recruitment and where it stands as of late, with Stockrisers.com.
Which schools are heavily involved?
“Texas, Arkansas, Rutgers, Miami, Iowa, and Maryland.”
Any new schools?
“LSU is the most recent to offer.”
Thoughts on Texas and how was your visit?
“Texas visit was good learned a lot built a relationship with the coaching staff learned a lot about the university.”
Arkansas?
“Starting to build a relationship with them.”
And what about Rutgers?
“Rutgers, I’ve built a good relationship with Coach Hobbs, who’s actually from the DMV like me, and Coach Pikiell is great, I’m very comfortable with him and he’s all in with Rutgers.”
Iowa?
“Coach McCaffrey has been the most active out of all the head coaches. He has been my main recruiter, I like Iowa and what they do. McCaffrey is the true definition of a players coach.”
When will you commit?
“I’ll commit probably sometime in December.”
When will you trim the list and how many schools?
“Dropping my list maybe next week to five schools.”
Anymore visits?
“Possible official to LSU.”
Junior year goals?
“I want to be player of the year, win the conference, and state titles, move up in all the rankings, and be best prepared for college going into AAU season.”
