October 4, 2022

Five-star junior James Brown of St. Rita in Chicago, Illinois, tells that he’s set his official visit schedule [as of now] and says he’s still working on his Duke visit.

The visit dates are Michigan State on October 7th, North Carolina on October 14th, Notre Dame on October 21st, and Illinois on November 4th. In addition, the visit spree already started. Brown just completed an official visit to Mizzou this past weekend.

Brown also says he’s still working on a visit to Duke.

It’s to no surprise that many are in pursuit of Brown. He’s a versatile 6-foot-10 prospect. Runs the floor extremely well and is an absolutely dominant player in the paint on both ends of the floor. His IQ at his position is also a plus and he could fit in at nearly any program in his current list of ten schools.

He discussed his recruitment, including a preview of his next official visit with

Would you say every school in your ten is heavily in the mix?

“Yes, I would say every school is in the mix. I don’t know if I’ll cut it again but that’s a possibility. “

Thoughts on Mizzou and how was your official?

“I really enjoyed my time in Missouri. In the time I spent with Coach Gates, I saw that he’s a great guy and my family and I really enjoyed all the time we were able to spend with him and his staff.”

Michigan State, you visit next weekend, what are your thoughts on them?

“Coach Izzo is a great guy and obviously a legendary coach. I’m really excited to be able to get down to Michigan State so my family and I can continue to build a relationship with their program.”

North Carolina?

“North Carolina has a historic basketball program, I think it’s really cool what Hubert Davis was able to do in year one. I really enjoy talking with him and Coach Sean May and I’m excited to get down to Chapel Hill to learn more about North Carolina.”

How do you feel your game fits in the college system?

“I think I bring a lot of energy on and off the court. I can do it all and I feel like I’m somebody who can come in and make an impact right away.”

Is reclassifying or skipping college for pros an option?

“I wanna be a pro eventually, but I don’t think reclassing is an option. I’ll be going to college when it’s my time to go.”

How would you break down your game?

“I can do a little bit of everything shoot, dribble, pass, and finish with both hands. I’m versatile and I can play multiple positions and I like to get out and run the floor.”

Junior year goals?

“Win a state championship.”
