Paul VI (VA) continues to produce top talent every year.

Recently you’ve had Trevor Keels, Jeremy Roach, Dug McDaniel, and the list goes on.

Now, Paul VI has a very talented small forward on the roster. His name is Darren Harris. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound wingman, continues to generate interest from some of the top schools in the nation. Best known for his shooting ability, Harris has proven himself to be a player who will ‘win at all cost’ which is an attractive attribute on the recruiting trail.

His knockdown shooting ability and his leadership values have ultimately landed him scholarship offers from plenty of high-major programs.

Harris' basketball journey began when he was shadowing his father, who was a high school basketball coach. Harris said he practically grew up in the gym, saying he was around the game of basketball so much and it made him realize it’s what he wants to do.

The talented junior was out last season dealing with injuries and prior to that many viewed him as a guy ranked in the Top-20, that has since dropped for other outlets, for me, I believe Harris is still a Top-20 threat.

We talked about his recruitment and he discussed where he will take his first official visit with Stockrisers.com.

Who’s heavily involved in your recruitment?

“I would say, Duke, Maryland, Ohio State, Miami, and UConn are the most involved right now.”

Any new schools?

“No new schools.”

Duke gets the first official visit, thoughts on them?

“Duke Is a great program obviously. They also show a lot of support. They've been in our gym more than any other school for me, and that means a lot. I met with Coach Scheyer and Coach Amile after practice and that went great too.”

Thoughts on Ohio State?

“Ohio State is amazing. I recently visited, and the facilities and campus are top-notch. I talked a lot with the entire coaching staff, we watched film and broke down my film from the summer. It was great. They emphasize how much of a priority I am and I definitely feel that.”

The local school, Maryland?

“I recently visited Maryland also. It went great, Coach Willard and his staff are great. Coach Skinn reaches out a lot, and their staff has done a really good job keeping the elite local talent home. I will probably visit them again in the future.”

Visits?

“I have an official visit to Duke starting on the 14th [of October].”

Breakdown your game.

“I'm an elite shooter, who plays with confidence and I am a solid defender. I love making plays for my teammates and making winning plays.”

Junior year goals are?

“This year I want to score off the dribble at a higher level and get to the free throw line at a high clip.”
