Five-star Ernest Udeh Jr. talks Michigan, UGA, Arkansas, more.
Prior to the pandemic, I watched a big man by the name of Ernest Udeh Jr.
The Dr. Phillips big man and the 6-foot-10 rising senior out of Florida is one of the more underrated bigs in the entire class of 2022. He had an excellent showing this weekend in Dallas and was dominant for Southeast Elite. The development from when I watched him in 2020 till now has been drastic and his upside is through the roof.
Udeh Jr. is a dynamic two-way prospect. Now seen as a five-star prospect in the 2022 class. Can be a physical and dominant paint beast on the offensive end and then he reciprocates it on the other end as he blocks a high amount of shots. In addition, he is a really confident prospect and one of those guys that back up his talk.

His recruitment? Will keep growing.
Florida, Ole Miss, Temple, USF, are amongst the ten scholarship offers that he currently holds, a list I expect to grow with many new programs entering the mix as he has a strong start to AAU basketball after the weekend he had. So, that leaves us with this, which programs are in the mix, and have any new ones get involved?
Since, he’s landed offers from Kansas, Tennessee, Michigan, UCLA, Illinois, Cinci, Hofstra, Alabama, Indiana, amongst several others. Now, we want to hear more from him on his recruitment and commitment timeline?
Here’s Stockrisers.com’s conversation with Udeh Jr.
Which schools are heavily in the mix?
“Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, among others I’d say have been contacting very recently.”
Any new schools?
“New schools, Memphis and Oregon reached out a while back.”
Are they still in the mix?
“Not necessarily.”
How about Michigan? What is their pitch and thoughts on Juwan Howard?
“Juwan is a great guy, one of the things I like about him is that he keeps it real. Michigan of course has a good way with bigs and the production. It really stands out to me.”
Georgia? What are your thoughts on Coach Crean and what is his pitch to you?
“Coach Crean has always put emphasis on how good of a player I am, and where I can be. Getting better every single day and being able to develop into a pro-level guy getting a second contract.”
So, discuss Arkansas? Who has Muss compared you to and will you visit?
“There haven’t really been any huge comparisons, just aspects of my game he likes and my ability to be versatile. A visit is under consideration.”
Commitment timeline?
“If I’m being honest as of right now plan is to commit, the latest, in season and sign the second period. There’s a possibility that that can change though.”
And how about a list cut? Are things speeding up on that?
“Things have 100%, the list just isn’t complete yet.”
And now, where does your game stand? What have you been working on this off-season?
“Face up to the basket and being able to go one-on-one with my matchup.”
