Five-star propsect Ernest Udeh Jr. talks new Michigan offer, recruitment

Prior to the pandemic, I watched a big man by the name of Ernest Udeh Jr.

The Dr. Phillips big man and the 6-foot-10 junior out of Florida is one of the more underrated bigs in the entire class of 2022. He had an excellent showing this weekend in Dallas and was dominant for Southeast Elite. The development from when I watched him in 2020 till now has been drastic and his upside is through the roof.

Udeh Jr. is a dynamic two-way prospect. Now seen as a five-star prospect in the 2022 class. Can be a physical and dominant paint beast on the offensive end and then he reciprocates it on the other end as he blocks a high amount of shots. In addition, he is a really confident prospect and one of those guys that back up his talk.

Said this on May 25th:

His recruitment? Will keep growing.

Florida, Ole Miss, Temple, USF, are amongst the ten scholarship offers that he currently holds, a list I expect to grow with many new programs entering the mix as he has a strong start to AAU basketball after the weekend he had. So, that leaves us with this, which programs are in the mix, and have any new ones get involved?

Since, he’s landed offers from Kansas, Tennessee, Michigan, UCLA, Illinois, Cinci, Hofstra, Alabama, Indiana, amongst several others. Now, we want to hear more from him on his recruitment and his thoughts on the recent offers that he’s added.

Here’s Udeh Jr’s conversation with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Florida, Georgia, GT, Tennessee, Miami, Stanford, Illinois, and a lot of others I’d say.”

Any new schools?

“Virginia, Memphis, Auburn, West Virginia, NC State, and Ohio State.”

Tennessee’s pitch?

“They let me know that they have a very good development program in place for their players to help me get to the next level.”

Florida’s pitch? They been on you heavy for a long time, thoughts?

“You know they’ve been recruiting me for a long time. It’s close to home, and I have a great relationship with Coach White.”

Talk about Michigan. How did that go down? What are their pitch and your thoughts on that offer

“It’s just been Coach Howard talking to me, our relationship is really good. He was one of the first guys to contact me when coaches were first allowed to go out, but a little while before that.”

When will you start campus visits?

“I’m probably going to start planning my visits in the fall.”

How do you feel going into summer ball?

“Confident. Determined. I still have a lot to prove.”

Any idea on a commitment timeline?

“I don’t really know, it’s all about what I have going on whether it be school work, basketball games, just where my overall focus needs to be at that point. A decision will come in the not so distant future though.”
