Could Top-50 junior Dug McDaniel make a decision soon?
Dug McDaniel is one of the most exciting guard prospects in the entire 2022 class. The Paul VI (VA) lead guard has been seen as one of the most elite playmakers in not only the DMV but the entire junior class.
Standing at just 5-foot-9, McDaniel has thrilling in-game speed and has asserted himself as an elite playmaker and one of the best point guards in America. Alongside several other guys including five-star prospect Trevor Keels, McDaniel has proven himself as a reliable floor general and a double-double guy almost every game.
His recruitment has been interesting over the past few months, I believe that schools are overlooking McDaniel and he’s proven himself as a high-level guard in the 2022 class. With that being said, let’s enter the interview stage:
McDaniel talked about the programs still heavily in the mix and hints at a pretty important commitment timeline with Stockrisers.com.
Which programs remain heavily involved in your recruitment?
“Michigan, Florida, and VCU.”
Brief Breakdown:
- Michigan: “They’ve got a really good playstyle and the pace that they play with throughout the game is intriguing.”
- Florida: “They play with a very fast pace and they love to push the ball throughout the game, that’s something I like.”
- VCU: “I really like their gritty and scrappy playstyle. They also play with great energy and I enjoy the style of play.”
How have you evolved your game this past season?
“I have been working on my shot making and my shot-creating, a lot of it has been trying to keep the same form developing a lot of muscle memory also looking to get locked in with my uncle LethalShooter as well to really sharpen my shot.”
Thoughts on your season?
“Despite the short season, I felt like it was pretty good. We didn't win the games we felt like we should have but at the end of the day we got to play and build a bond so I'm just grateful.”
Commitment timeline? Any idea when you’ll commit?
“Soon.”
