Top-60 junior Tarris Reed Jr. updates his recruitment
The 2022 class is filled with talent at the forward spot. The word dynamic comes up a lot when you look down the list of big men in the incoming junior class. Tarris Reed Jr. is finding himself develop into a high-major recruit and the 6-foot-10 forward out of Chaminade High School in St. Louis says that he had an amazing off-season, which is proving to be scary for future opponents.
“Offseason has been great, I got back in Chaminade’s gym a couple of months ago. Ever since the school reopened, I’ve been wearing the gym out. I’ve really been working on my body and developing my game. Expanding my range and developing a tighter handle package,” Reed Jr. told Stockrisers.com.
Chaminade has been doing well under Reed Jr. who has been leading them in scoring and rebounding. He remains a four-star prospect and could be one of those prospects who see a major boost come to the midway point of this high school season.
Reed Jr. updated Stockrisers.com on his recruitment. Talked about several programs and he broke down three of the Big Ten programs involved in his recruitment.
Which schools remain heavily in the mix?
“Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa, Illinois, Mizzou, and Indiana.”
You made us aware of a new program in the mix.
“Yes, Michigan is the newest program to reach out and show interest. Coach Howard Eisley has been in touch with my family and me.”
Where do things stand with Tom Izzo and Michigan State?
“Michigan State, since they offered me, has been in contact with me weekly. I enjoy talking with Coach Garland and building a relationship with him. Looking forward to visiting campus as soon as we are allowed to take visits.”
Thoughts on Iowa? You’ve been able to watch them recently.
“I speak with Coach Dillard and Coach McCaffery a lot. They’ve been playing well these past couple of games. I’m building a solid relationship with them. Watching the film on Tyler Cook to see how I can find into their system.”
You also mentioned Ohio State, have you been watching them?
“I talk to Coach Johnson all the time. He’s always checking up on me before and after games. Been watching them doing well and getting ready for the tournament. I’m always rooting for my guy EJ [Liddell].”
I know you’ve been happy about your season, discuss how that’s going?
“Season’s been going great. Came off a huge rivalry win last night. We are in the semi-finals and one step closer to that state championship. We have to stay focused and stay locked in.”
How has your game evolved this season?
“This year I’ve been able to work on my face up and low post-game. Starting to get more comfortable in the mid-range and down-low. Trying to stay poised and efficient.”
