The latest on five-star junior Enoch Boakye

After announcing that he will re-open his recruitment, Enoch Boakye has become one of the more prioritized junior prospects in the country, and Canada of course. The 6-foot-10 big out of Brampton, Canada, verbally committed to Michigan State in July, and many had hoped he’s either reclassify and join the Spartans or, be a major piece for their 2021 class.

Obviously, COVID-19 has shaped up rosters in a very odd way. Players are returning after landing an extra year, recruiting has changed a bit, and all types of reasons. Boakye saw an emergence from the Spartan bigs and an overload at the position was bound to happen, hence him deciding to go separate ways.

George Aramide, Boakye’s high school coach and someone very close to him, has updated Stockrisers.com on the latest with his recruitment. According to Aramide, Boakye has heard from Arizona State, Maryland, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, Washington, Wazzu, Baylor, Georgia, amongst others.

Like all other recruits, Boakye will have to take his visits virtually and has already begun that process.

Yesterday, he virtually met with Oklahoma State’s Mike Boynton and an assistant coach from Georgia. In addition, Baylor and Texas Tech reached out and are both attempting to set-up a call with Boakye and each respective staff.

He also is being heavily pursued by Texas Tech’s staff. Assistant coach Mark Adams called Boakye two nights ago and Chris Beard contacted Aramide as well, which led to Beard ultimately talking with Boakye yesterday.

Today, he will virtually meet with Maryland’s Mark Turgeon and his staff, along with Wake Forest’s Steve Forbes and his staff. In addition, Boakye’s coach says ‘everything is on the table’ right now. They’re still mulling a reclassification to the 2021 class and, have even listened to what professional teams have had to say.

Last night, one professional overseas team reached out to Boakye’s camp, which means he is indeed all ears. But, the focus right now is on the college route but he and his camp will be all ears on whatever options arise for the Top-20 Stockrisers.com prospect.

UPDATE: FEB. 18

Maryland’s Mark Turgeon talked with Boakye and will virtually meet with the staff on Monday. Wake Forest’s Steve Forbes will also speak with him this evening and Syracuse is the newest program to enter the mix.

UPDATE: FEB. 19/20

Syracuse has indeed reached out to Enoch Boakye, but, Jim Boeheim hasn’t called yet but it is a good possibility at this moment that he does. Indiana has also attempted to enter the mix and was slated to reach out to Boakye’s camp yesterday.

Also, we at Stockrisers.com broke the news that Illinois has entered the mix and Brad Underwood and his staff are expected to speak with Boakye next week via virtual meeting. Maryland, Texas Tech, Baylor, amongst so many are involved. Maryland is actually heavily pursuing Boakye, he’s talked with headman Mark Turgeon and will speak with several of the staff including Turgeon on Monday.

Schools remain to enter the mix, this could be a very long and interesting race. As stated in the article above, Boakye is open to all options including pro options and a reclass. The focus is now on college, though.
