Four schools prioritizing four-star junior Dug McDaniel
Dug McDaniel is one of the most exciting guard prospects in the entire 2022 class. The Paul VI (VA) lead guard has been seen as one of the most elite playmakers in not only the DMV but the entire junior class.
Standing at just 5-foot-9, McDaniel has thrilling in-game speed and has asserted himself as an elite playmaker and one of the best point guards in America. He alongside the rest of PVI’s squad recently began their season. McDaniel showed no signs of slowing down from last season as he finished with 30 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, and a handful of steals.
As far as his recruitment goes, McDaniel took the time to update that with Stockrisers.com. He mentions four programs that are really keen on bringing him into their respective programs. Here’s the latest on the flashy and talented guard out of the Virginia area.
Which programs are heavily involved with your recruitment?
“Michigan, Georgetown, Florida, and VCU.”
Breakdown each program briefly:
Michigan: “I’ve got a really good relationship with the coaches and some players on the team, feel as if I can fit into their system.”
Florida: “Great coaching staff, all coaches involved in recruitment, they have a very fast-paced play style that I love to play at.”
VCU: “Nice coaching staff, Scrappy guards, a really good running team which is a key aspect of my game.”
Georgetown: “They have a great coaching staff, a very experienced team with tons of potential and I can see myself in their system.”
Breakdown your game to the fullest?
“I'm a very pass-first guard, I love when my teammates are involved and are prospering. I can score as well and that is my main focus this season, scoring the ball at a high rate, and I think I'm headed in the right direction finishing both games with a double-double.”
What are your expectations for Paul VI this season?
“For the season, I expect us to win every game and make sure we are not focused on outside distractions, and even though we don't have playoffs our coaches are still watching and so are scouts, so we just have to make sure we still have that championship mindset throughout the whole season.”
