Four-star junior Demarion Watson-Saulsberry updates recruitment
Tapping into Minnesota over the past few years and the talent level just continues to blow me away. The state is producing players at all levels, several headed to the NBA in this upcoming draft. It continues in the 2022 class with the state having a handful of Top-150 prospects.
Demarion Watson-Saulsberry is one of them.
The 6-foot-6 wing out of Minneapolis, holds offers from Nebraska, Florida, Minnesota, Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, and plenty of others. He’s playing at Totino-Grace this upcoming season and is fully prepared and ready for the season.
Watson-Saulsberry is rated amongst the Top-30 small forwards in America but in a loaded state of Minnesota, where there’s no shortage of talent, he’s one of the most elite competitors and should see a major rise in all rankings.
He also leads to busy recruitment. He tells Stockrisers.com that he has a commitment date that he’d like (read below) but that isn’t a set date. He updated his recruitment below.
Which programs are heavily involved?
“Xavier, Creighton, Marquette, Missouri, Minnesota, and Iowa State are all heavily involved.”
How about the newer schools in the mix?
“Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and LSU are newer programs in the mix.”
Talking some schools, Xavier has been on you very hard, thoughts on them?
“They are a great program and are doing very well this year. They see me fitting in very well in their program and are telling me I would have an immediate impact on the team. I have a really good connection with their coaching staff.”
How about a program on the rise in Missouri?
“They are also a team doing very well. They were my first offer, they’ve been recruiting me for a long time now. The coaches believe I fit well in the program. I have a very good connection with their coaching staff.”
What about a program that landed a five-star in your state (Dawson Garcia), Marquette?
“They haven’t been doing as well as they want to but are still a very good program overall. They see me playing as a big wing, they tell me I would have an opportunity to play a lot of minutes on their team.”
Give the full breakdown of your game if you had to make a scouting report.
“I see myself as a very versatile player. I play on both sides of the ball, and I take pride on the defensive end and make it my job that my man doesn’t score. I play very good help-side defense and do the small things, whether that’s sprinting back on defense or on a fast break.
Or even talking, just telling the on-ball defender that I have his help side. Offensively I like to get out in transition and spread the floor. I can also score on all three levels whether that’s a three, a midrange, or I’m getting past my man for the finish.”
When do you plan on committing?
“Right now I’m looking at committing on my birthday this year, December 15.”
