Top-50 senior Mac Etienne is down to four schools, sets commitment timeline

It has almost been a year since I witnessed the breakout of Mac Etienne. He dominated for Suffield Academy at the PSA Cardinals showcase. Etienne, the 6-foot-10 big man, decided to move on from Suffield and enroll at Brewster Academy for his senior season. In addition, Etienne was a very important part of the PSA Cardinals squad and he established himself as a highly-rated recruit.

Etienne has been staying close to vest with the recruitment process and is remaining very low about which direction he could be headed in.

There had been talks of a possible reclass in which Etienne was ‘50-50’ about this summer but evidently, he’s found a role at Brewster Academy under head coach Jason Smith and he still leads really busy recruitment. But, with that busy recruitment, he’s chopped things down and is now down to four programs.

Etienne is down to Miami, Marquette, UCLA, and Illinois, he told Stockrisers.com. He broke down his four finalists and sets a commitment timeline:

Marquette: “Marquette was the first school to come to an open gym for me and they were also my first high-major offer. In addition, I have a great relationship with Coach DK and Wojo. And with Theo [John] leaving it would be a great fit.”

UCLA: “UCLA has a rich history and is known for producing NBA players. I have a great relationship with the coaching staff and I could see a great fit with the program.”

Miami: “Miami is a great fit and with the commitment of one of my closest friends in commit Bensley Joseph and my family being out there it would be a great option for me.”

Illinois: “Illinois is a great program that I have built a great relationship with, and with Kofi [Cockburn] potentially going to the draft, It would be a great fit for me. and I loved my visit there.”

When will you commit?

“I’ll probably commit within the next month and I don’t plan on enrolling early.”
