Tyler Nickel has scored 1,464 points in his high school career.

Tyler Nickel is just finishing his sophomore campaign. That point total put him in the top spot for most in Virginia High School history. It’s safe to say he’s become one of the most efficient scorers in the entire country.

The four-star forward out of the 2022 class, currently attends East Rockingham (VA) High School. His last measurements had him at 6-foot-8 and nearly 210 pounds. His ability to score at all three levels and run the floor and lead an offense at his size has made him extremely valuable to college coaches.

Nickel leads himself to high-major recruitment and holds a long list of scholarship offers.

He discussed it with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are involved?

Nickel: “My offers include App State, JMU, ODU, Richmond, VCU, Virginia Tech, LSU, Clemson, Wake Forest, NC State, Iowa, and Indiana.”

Interested schools?

Nickel: “I have heavy interest from West Virginia, Ohio State, Cincinnati, and Memphis.”

How will you approach the recruiting process?

Nickel: “My recruitment is still very much open and I’m just looking for the best fit for me. I’ll start cutting my list at the end of this upcoming spring and then make a decision next fall.”

Describe your game.

Nickel: “I’m primarily a two or a three. I create my own shot and make plays off the bounce. I can score from anywhere on the floor and go coast-to-coast off a rebound often. I also guard multiple positions comfortably.”

NC State is on you heavy, correct? Thoughts?

Nickel: “NC State has been calling me and just telling me how my scoring would help them and my versatile style of play is what they need.”

How about Iowa?

Nickel: “Iowa has been telling me how they see me as an NBA-level player and that they have a plan for my development and being comfortable and doing my thing for them.”

Indiana is also seen as a school on you hard.

Nickel: “Indiana just said that all-around what I do on the court, for them that is what they need especially with my toughness.”

Upcoming zoom call?

Nickel: “I have one with Cincinnati.”

What are they saying?

Nickel: “Cincinnati has been telling me how my scoring ability would thrive there.”

Season expectations?

Nickel: “I’m chasing our school's first-ever state championship.”
