New York State’s top-ranked player in 2022 goes by the name of Roddy Gayle Jr. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard is one of the best scorers in his class and has a very unique skill set that has college coaches very intrigued at such an early time in the recruiting process.

When watching Gayle Jr. the first thing that stood out to me was his jump-shot and his smooth offensive game. In this day and age, basketball is all about shooting. You see players now more focused on the three-ball than ever before and that’s something that Gayle Jr. isn’t going to struggle with.

His recruitment involves several programs, since June 15th, he’s heard from nearly 20+ programs which included daily phone calls and several programs jumping into the mix. Now, as Gayle Jr. enters his junior season we see more movement in his recruitment.

Gayle Jr. is down to six programs and will announce his college commitment on November 13th, he told Stockrisers.com.

Here’s a brief breakdown of his final-six of Marquette, Ohio State, UConn, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Georgetown.

UConn: “It would be very cool to play under Coach Hurley.”

Pittsburgh: “I have a great relationship with the staff.”

Marquette: “Kept close contact and loved the way they would use me.”

Syracuse: “Legendary coach in Jim Boeheim and very close to my hometown.”

Georgetown: “All-time great, Coach Ewing would be someone that I’d love to pick their brain.”

Ohio State: “Kept in close contact since freshman year and I went on a visit. Loved the campus and playstyle”
