Sylvan Hills standout Nick Smith Jr. has instantly become a hot-commodity amongst the 2022 class. The 6-foot-5 combo-guard out of Arkansas has burst onto the scene and has instantly made his impact on the court and it has led to national recognition.

Smith Jr. is seen as either a five-star prospect or someone on the fringe of the Top-50. He’s currently in a very good spot and has showcased his scoring ability which is one of the major reasons why nearly twenty programs are in the mix.

Which programs remain involved?

Smith: “Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, St. John’s, Florida, Auburn, Murray State, Kansas, Purdue, North Carolina, Georgetown, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Kentucky.”

Any of these programs newer?

Smith: “Kentucky and Kansas.”

What is each program pitching to you?

Smith: “Each school is pretty much saying that they enjoy my game and how I could be effective at either the one or the two.”

Virtual visits, where have you visited virtually?

Smith: “Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.”

Thoughts on how those went?

Smith: “They all showed me their respective campuses and how they roll throughout the day and also were telling me how they can develop my game using their resources.”

Kentucky’s a new one, what is their early pitch?

Smith: “Nothing really to heavy just yet. They’re trying to get to know me and telling me how they can develop me into a pro.”

How has the off-season been for you?

Smith: “Really just been focusing on getting my body prepared for the season and just really trying to get better every day on the court.”
