The 2022 class is filled with talent at the forward spot. The word dynamic comes up a lot when you look down the list of big men in the incoming junior class. Tarris Reed Jr. is finding himself develop into a high-major recruit and the 6-foot-10 forward out of Chaminade High School in St. Louis says that he’s having an amazing off-season, which could be scary for future opponents.

“Offseason has been great, I got back in Chaminade’s gym a couple of months ago. Ever since the school reopened, I’ve been wearing the gym out. I’ve really been working on my body and developing my game. Expanding my range and developing a tighter handle package.,” Reed Jr. told Stockrisers.com.

Reed Jr. isn’t even scratching the surface just yet and is already emerging as a high-level recruit.

He holds offers from many programs, but according to Reed Jr, “The main schools that are involved are Kansas State. Mizzou, Ohio State, Michigan State, Nebraska, And Creighton.”

Like everyone else, Reed Jr. is taking in his recruiting process and his visits virtually. He says that he completed some recent zoom calls with several coaching staffs:

“I recently had a zoom call with Mizzou, Ohio State, and Michigan State. Ohio State and Michigan State both offered me on the zoom. Had a great conversation with Coach Izzo, Coach Garland, and Coach Holtmann.”

The most recent one was with the staff at Missouri. Cuonzo Martin and his guys are working on keeping Reed Jr. close to home and are making an early push and remain in the mix. Here’s what Reed Jr. said on his virtual visit with Mizzou’s staff:

“Mizzou, I had a chance to talk to Coach Martin for a solid hour. We had a wonderful conversation he told me where I would fit in their program and showed me some film as well.”

In addition, he’s taken virtual campus visits to four programs: Arkansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Ohio State. He broke down each virtual visit with Stockrisers.com.

Arkansas: “I loved their nutrition program. Coach [Musselman] told me they have one of the best in the country. They have nutrition specialists that help the team. They have diets customized for different pampers based on their needs and taste.”

Iowa State: “I loved their gym. The video they showed me of the Hilton Coliseum was amazing. The arena could hold around 15,000 and they have an amazing fan base.”

Kansas State and Ohio State: “Kansas State and Ohio State I loved their business center. In college, I want to major in business in the marketing aspect. Both colleges have an amazing facility strictly for their business majors.”

I expect Reed Jr. to see more offers come in and as he develops at Chaminade this off-season, I expect a boost in rankings. This prospect can go.
