Penny Hardaway just bolstered his recruiting class into the national rankings as he goes into the NEPSAC and lands Top-75 senior and Brewster Academy forward John Camden, he told Stockrisers.com. Camden, the 6-foot-8 wing, is currently enrolled at Brewster Academy where he will complete his senior season.

“I chose Memphis because of how much they prioritized and believed in me. Their personal development program is unlike any other school, and I feel that they will put me in the best position to be successful.”

The offer from Penny Hardaway came early this summer. Camden was amidst a breakout in his recruitment and the Tigers jumped in at the right time. Hardaway and Cody Toppert were the lead coaches in this recruitment and Penny’s past pro experiences isn’t something overlooked by prospects he’s recruiting including Camden.

“Playing for Penny will be a blessing. Being coached and mentored by someone who has played and been successful at the highest level will help me in so many ways.”

I asked Camden to use one word to describe his future coach, he said: “Real.”

The Tigers currently have one commit outside of Camden in their 2021 class and that’s 6-foot-8 wing, Josh Minott. Camden described his future teammate as a versatile big guard who can make plays. In addition, he says he will heavily recruit his best friend and brother Sam Ayomide to the Tigers.

“We need to add a big man to our class so I will be heavily recruiting Sam Ayomide to join us.”

They’re also in a really good spot with Jordan Nesbitt who announces his college decision tomorrow and Camden says he’d be excited if the Tigers could land the talented guard out of St. Louis Christian Academy.
