Four-star junior Jaden Schutt discusses his recruitment
2022 is a class full of sharpshooting guards. That includes one of Illinois’ top-rated prospects in Jaden Schutt. The 6-foot-5 guard out of Yorkville Christian (IL.) holds nearly 25 scholarship offers and is being prioritized nationally.
In an era where Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Trae Young, and many others have made the league a shooting league, it has made guys like Schutt hot commodities. His shooting stroke is one that never fails to amaze anyone scouting or evaluating his game. He’s even made double-digit three’s in a game.
For that, he’s being recruited by some of the nation’s top programs including:
Illinois, Creighton, Xavier, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, Marquette, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Dayton, Purdue, Stanford, Oregon, Michigan, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Butler, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Minnesota.
He broke down four of those programs that are in the mix with Stockrisers.com.
Iowa: “Talking to Coach [Fran] McCaffery, he talks about how my game would fit into their offense and how we get me shots.”
Michigan State: “In talking with Coach [Tom] Izzo recently, we have talked about my game and where I would be an impact and what I’ve been doing recently in my training and areas I’m focusing on improving.”
Illinois: “I had a zoom recently with Coach [Brad] Underwood and we talked about their offense and how I would fit into that style of play and a lot about player development. He keeps telling me that they need a shooter.”
Wisconsin: “Talking with Coach [Greg] Gard he tells me a lot about the program and the culture and how I would love the attitude in the locker room and the player development they offer and a lot about the academics.”
Finally, the process will be one taken slowly for Schutt who is looking forward to visiting campuses at some point.
“I’m looking to take visits and see campuses and talk to coaches in person so as of right now there is no timetable for a decision but hopefully once I’m able to make visits I will be able to break things down and have a better idea of where I want to go.”
