Top-75 senior Mason Miller talks recruitment, next steps

Despite being one of the Top-75 players in the 2021 rankings and the son of NBA champion Mike Miller, Mason Miller remains one of the nation’s under-the-radar prospects. Standing at a towering 6-foot-10, he is seen as one of the most polished forward prospects in the class.

He’s gotten the attention of some high-level programs and is focused on five programs, he told Stockrisers.com.

“As of now it’s Creighton, LSU, Ohio State, Indiana, and Virginia Tech.” You look at the list and you see programs from all different conferences. For Miller, it is all about finding the right fit and choosing a school that will lead him to his ultimate goal of the NBA.

Despite having his focus on these five programs, Miller says his recruitment is still open and he’s going to be open if new programs enter the mix. He says that he’s recently been in contact with TCU. Assistant coach Ryan Miller is the uncle of Mason and has the Horned Frogs remaining in the race.

You look at LSU. They’ve had one of the top-rated recruiting classes in the SEC for the past few cycles and that didn’t stop for Will Wade’s 2021 class.

The highlight of that Tigers’ 2021 class is Jerrell Colbert, and he just transferred into Houston High School to team-up with Mason Miller and be led by head coach Mike Miller.

Mason says “It’s going to be really exciting,” when asked his thoughts going into this upcoming season.

Miller was able to lead his team to the state championship after trying for three years but just days prior to the matchup, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the game. Now, in his senior year he will have more help and looks to once again lead his squad to the title game.

As far as coming up with his college decision, Miller says that he would love to be able to take his campus visits and that’s what is currently slowing down his recruitment.

“After Christmas if things aren’t opening up then I’ll probably start making a decision.”
