Weekend Mailbox: Harrison Ingram, Michigan and Chet Holmgren, Shane Nowell
Just like that, we are back!
It’s week three of ‘Weekend Mailbox’ and I took a shot at answering some of your twitter questions.
This weekend, I take a look at the latest with five-star Harrison Ingram and what I’m hearing, Michigan’s chances with Chet Holmgren, and the latest on Shane Nowell.
Let’s dive in!
I’ve answered this for the last three weeks and I will continue to do so because Harrison Ingram is just that important to his six finalists of Howard, Harvard, Michigan, Stanford, Purdue, and North Carolina. The recent reports that have surfaced are that Ingram is inching much closer to making a decision, so I asked Ingram.
He said that he’s unsure of when he will announce and that he’s just trying to make the right decision and really think it through before he rushes into anything.
As I reported nights back, he did zoom calls with North Carolina’s Roy Williams, Michigan’s Juwan Howard, and Stanford’s Jerod Haase, meaning his recruitment is staying busy and there might not be a clear-cut favorite just yet. Like I’ve mentioned previously there could be three favorites in this recruitment, nobody has a single idea where he could go.
He’s just focused on making the right decision so I wouldn’t rush to saying Ingram is announcing very soon but realistically it could happen at any time, he just doesn’t even know where he’s going yet.
Michigan is definitely in a good spot with arguably the nation’s top-rated recruit in Chet Holmgren. One reason why? They aren’t in need of an instant commitment from him, they have time to be patient. Holmgren has said multiple times he would like to commit in the Spring due to the fact that he wants to touch college campuses and take his visits.
Holmgren has been a Michigan recruit for the last 2-3 years and that hasn’t stopped whatsoever. Juwan Howard has built a relationship with him as has recent Wolverines commit Frankie Collins who is making a push at the 7-foot big man as well.
Howard is also recruiting bigs like Charles Bediako and Efton Reid who also could be Spring decisions in their recruitments, this is very big for Michigan. They don’t have to worry about missing out late due to there current roster and then also have two other targets who are late options. They could also land other guys while waiting on Holmgren.
Shane Nowell isn’t your ordinary Top-75 recruit. Isn’t a name everyone talks about and is very much underrated in his skillset. At 6-foot-5, the brother of former Washington guard and current NBA player Jaylen Nowell, holds offers from Oklahoma, Washington, and some other schools. But I have a current favorite: Arizona.
Nowell was offered by the Wildcats a few months ago and since Sean Miller has made it a priority to land the Washington prospect. They missed out on Ben Gregg but could recover perfectly from that miss and land a very solid prospect in Shane Nowell.
