Over one year ago, prior to Stockrisers’ move to the F5 platform, we covered a prospect from Oregon. His name was Ben Gregg, he held just a handful of offers but one year later became one of 2021’s top-rated prospects.

Today, Gregg tells Stockrisers.com that he will be committing to this season’s preseason number one, the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

“Gonzaga, because all my relatives live in the Spokane area so I grew up watching them play. They play through their stretch bigs which is my position so I can definitely see myself succeeding in their system.”

Gregg chose the Bulldogs over Arizona, Oregon State, and Oregon. The local programs included were both presumed favorites over the past few years but an offer from the Zags sealed the deal.

He told Stockrisers.com that the offer was extended by Mark Few on August 25th but they had made it clear for a good amount of time that they wanted him.

Gregg said that him and his family sat down by a lake and debriefed and just decided from there.

For Gonzaga, it was the programs’ history and recent winning seasons that went on notice for Gregg:

“There is definitely a reason they are the preseason number 1. What separates them from the other schools was the way they use my position. They are known for getting big guys that can stretch the floor, and they tend to play through them.”

This recruiting cycle has potential to be one of his best ones, he already has Kaden Perry who’s ranked in our Top-75 committed. Plus, they’re heavily involved with Nate Bittle who will make a college decision this fall.
