Last November, we went down a list of several 2023 prospects, and one of the few we listed was Arkansas native and Brad Beal Elite guard Layden Blocker. One of the more athletic guards in the class, announced his transfer to Sunrise Christian Academy recently giving them yet another talented lead guard entering the program.

Blocker will be playing on the EYBL circuit with Brad Beal Elite this summer and they’re one of the most talent-packed rosters on the circuit. It will be yet another opportunity for the Little Rock native to showcase his abilities to score, defend, and despite being 6-foot-2, he will prove to be one of the most athletic prospects on the court each time.

His recruitment has seen growth every single month. With the contact period underway as well, he’s added an influx of offers including most recently from defending national champion Baylor and blue blood program, Kansas.

Stockrisers.com got the chance to speak with Blocker and he went over his recruitment, who reached out during the contact period, and a recap of recent visits.

Who’s heavily involved in your recruitment?

“The schools that are heavily involved are Arkansas, Auburn, Miss. State, Ole Miss, St John’s, TCU, Oklahoma, Baylor, and Kansas.”

List every school that contacted after midnight on June 1st?

“St. John’s, Tennessee, Arkansas, Baylor, Gonzaga, Kansas State, Memphis, George Washington, Ole Miss, Coastal Carolina, Auburn, Oklahoma, Southern Miss, Arizona, Butler, Miss. State, Mizzou, Virginia, Stanford, TCU, South Carolina, Kansas.”

Auburn, Kansas, and Baylor, thoughts when you hear those programs?

“All three of those coaches are Hall of Fame coaches and have built great programs. Coach Self, Coach Drew, and Coach Bruce Pearl do a great job at what they do. Those coaches have done a great job developing guards like me and helping them get to the NBA.”

Future visits?

“I have two visits coming up in the fall, Ole Miss on September 10th and Auburn on October 8th. Schools have discussed trying to find a date, but I haven’t scheduled any new visits right now outside of those I listed.”

Summer goals?

“My summer goals are to get better. Continue my skill development and getting stronger. I’m going to also focus on studying the game more and fix some areas in your game like getting low while making a move and staying low and getting squared to the basketball while shooting and just little details in my shot.”
