JUCO: Keon Ellis talks his recruitment, future plans, playoff run

Keon Ellis was a star at Leesburg High School before taking his talents to Florida Southwestern for the past two seasons where he’s been one of the top players on one of the top Junior College squads in the country.

They’re currently ranked atop several JUCO rankings and are expected to make a long playoff run, what does Ellis think about his squad?

“We practice really hard and we know that that will show in the games. It has worked so far, so we are just continuing to do that. We are a solid all around team that has a lot of depth and really good players.”

Ellis is currently averaging 18.5 points in 28 games played this season and is shooting nearly 56% from the field which has gone noticed by several college programs.

He most recently landed himself an offer from the University of Alabama, he also has listed several programs involved with him.

“As of right now, I am still open. I have talked to alot of schools lately, including Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Kansas State, Iowa State, and a number of other schools. Right now I am focused on our season at FSW and then will really start to make some decisions after the season is complete.”

What would wow Ellis into joining a specific college program:

“I don’t think any one specific thing would make me commit to a program. I just want to make sure that I can go to a program where I have an opportunity to play and help the team. If there is a place where I can see that opportunity, I think that would be the ‘wow’ factor if there is one.”

Florida Southwestern and Ellis head into a long stretch including possibly a playoff run. They’re currently 27-1 and have won 10 straight contests. As a team, they average 90.0 points a game with Ellis scoring nearly 20 of those.
