This summer, I said Paolo Banchero is arguably the best player in the 2021 class, the Top-Five forward is living up to that having an outstanding season at O’Dea. His most recent stat line from last night: 33 points and 18 rebounds.
Double-doubles have been the norm for Banchero this season, here’s what he had to say on his season:
“I been playing well, been trying to play the right way and stay aggressive. We looking to turn it up in the playoffs.”
As far as his recruitment, he was down to Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Duke, Georgetown, Baylor, Washington, Gonzaga, and Memphis.
Despite being one of the programs aiming at five-star targets, Memphis hasn’t been in contact as much with Banchero. On the other hand, other programs have been sending staff out including Gonzaga who sent head coach Mark Few to watch him last night.
Any of these programs would use Paolo instantly, there was some talk of his possibly moving up to the 2020 class, he told Stockrisers.com first in August that the move will not happen, so I reaffirmed the question and he reaffirmed his answer:
“No reclass. Staying in 2021.”
Banchero says he’s evaluating everything since he’s taken his visits, says he aims to make his college decision prior to the start of his senior season.
