The good, just got better.
Leonard Hamilton and the Florida State Seminoles have landed a major commitment from Top-50 junior Bryce McGowens, he told Stockrisers.com. He chose the Seminoles over Clemson, Pittsburgh, and many other programs. He will play point guard for the Seminoles.
“I feel that Florida State is the best place for me to grow as a person and a player. Observing how Coach Ham and his staff have developed players on the court and men off the court was big for me. It’s a place where I can be a part of a winning program, and compete for ACC & National championships. I can also attain and reach my personal and individual goals.”
McGowens took an official visit to Tallahassee on January 25th and was absolutely blown away by the entire visit and said he had a feeling about them prior to the visit but the entire experience that weekend confirmed it.
“I actually knew the first time me and my family stepped on campus for my unofficial visit. I wanted to be sure what I felt was right so I wanted to come back. When I walked into ‘The Tuck’, the welcome from the fans and everyone around confirmed it. I felt the electricity and knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of that.”
With the commitment of McGowens, it gives Leonard Hamilton yet another excellent start to a recruiting cycle. For next season, he will have Florida State’s highest-rated commit in school history in Scottie Barnes.
Hamilton is also having major success over the past few seasons and not only is he one of the best coaches in the conference but he’s one of the best across the nation and Hamilton is one of the reasons for McGowens’ early commitment.
“Coach Hamilton is one of the winningest coaches in the ACC and I don’t think he gets the respect he deserves, but people will start to realize soon. Coach Ham is great man that will joke with you every once in a while. Mostly he wants to win a championship and I do too, so I want to help him and FSU get one.”
On the topic of possibly winning a championship over the next few reasons, McGowens was intrigued with the Seminoles and entering a program that has made the tournament for three straight seasons and is currently in shape to make it a fourth straight season.
McGowens was appreciative and interested in the idea of joining the ACC and competing in one of, if not, the best conference in the entire country.
“From day one they told me I would be one of their top priorities to help be a piece of a Championship winning team,” he said.
Now that he’s fully committed and has no plans or focus besides signing with the Seminoles this fall, he’s able to recruit who he’d want playing around him.
“I will be going after Moussa Cisse and Matthew Cleveland to join me here,” he said. Cisse was alongside McGowens on his official visit and according to many, the visit went extremely well for Cisse who’s ranked amongst the Top-10 players in McGowens’ class.
Finally, McGowens will attempt to join an impressive resume for the Seminoles over the last three years. They’ve had five guys drafted in the last three years and have two guys currently projected to be drafted. The future is extremely bright for the Noles.
