Chris Beard is smiling at his desk in Lubbock, Texas. He just landed the highest-rated recruit in Texas Tech history, Nimari Burnett. The five-star guard chose the Red Raiders over Michigan, Alabama, and Oregon.
“I will be choosing Texas Tech,” Burnett told Stockrisers.com
Why Texas Tech over Michigan, Oregon, and Alabama?
“It’s the best fit for me on and off the court. The culture is different from the rest and it’s a big family. The player development maybe the best in the country. Playing under one of the best coaches in the country is also a big reason that I chose tech”
“One of the best coaches in the country with Coach Beard, with a great program that speaks for itself with player development and winning.”
“They see me coming in and hopefully getting out in one year,” Burnett said. He will have immediate impact and could potentially find himself in a starting spot.
“But the pitch was that not only to earn my starting spot but be a game changer and take the team to a national championship Letter and to help me reach my dreams to be a NBA player.”
Another major pointer given by Chris Beard and Ulric Maligi was the fact that Chris Beard just sent Jarrett Culver to the NBA and now have Jahmius Ramsey as a potential first-round selection.
Texas Tech has been excellent the past few years and are expected to continue this success and the opportunity to be the highest-rated recruit in school history and possibly win a national championship, you can’t turn down.
Nimari Burnett to fans of TTU: “To the fans, I can’t wait to come rep Texas Tech and continue to make history at a great school.”
