Zed Key, without a doubt, could be one of the top breakout players of the spring and summer. A fringe three-star, now likely four-star, bursted onto the scene with LUHI this year who also has star guard Andre Curbelo.
Key landed many high-major offers this season and with his senior year almost getting started, a majority of the schools remain involved.
“I haven’t cut my list yet, but I speak most with (in no order) Florida, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Marquette, Wisconsin, Penn State, Providence, USC, St. John’s, Pitt, Illinois, and others,” Key said.
How does Key describe himself as a player?
“I’m a player who has a range of moves in the post, rebounder, runs the floor well, blocks shots and can hit the outside jumper. I also see the floor well for passing out of the double team.”
Last season, LUHI brought in a state championship off of some terrific play from the star duo of Key and Cureblo, and Zed believes, and wants, one more state title.
“One goal is to average a double double, improving on my rebounding and scoring from last year. Another goal is the win another State title. It was such a great feeling and we are shooting for a repeat.”
Now, he does have an idea of when he’d want to make his college decision and it’s somewhat soon:
“I would like to have a decision made before the start of the basketball season, or at least before we start playing games.”
