Pittsburgh lands first 2019 commitment, Gerald Drumgoole picks Pitt.

Jeff Capel just got his first pickup for the 2019 class, it’s from Gerald Drumgoole.

Drumgoole had South Carolina, Oregon, several schools on him. He broke down his decision with Stockrisers.

“When I finished my visit. I knew it was a place I could excel at and I knew it was a great opportunity for me to help the program become great,” Drumgoole said.

He recently took his official visit this weekend, that consisted of workouts at The Pete, the game against NC State, and more.

“My visit was very fun. Being around a new group of teammates that I could call family now. And sitting down with Coach Capel and talking and him keeping everything real was great. I just loved the place.”

Another key reason was the chance to play in the ACC, I ask Gerald about that:

“I’m excited to play in the ACC where many pros are made. It’s a conference where I can test my skills and grow as a student of the game.”

Gerald was more of a rising prospect the past year or two, not many know his game. Here’s how he describes himself as a player:

“I think my game can help this team in many ways. Being able to do it all, hitting shots from beyond the perimeter, getting to the basket, facilitating the offense, and playing hard defense along with rebounding at the rim.”

To finish off our discussion, Drumgoole has a message for Pittsburgh fans:

“It’s time to make the program great again.”
