1 on 1 with 2021 rising phenom Jabari Smith, he talks recruitment and what makes him stand out.



2021 rising power forward prospect Jabari Smith Jr is making his name known with each game he plays. He plays for Sandy Creek high school in Tyrone, Georgia and is the father of former LSU star and NBA player Jabari Smith. He is a 6-8 all around power forward who can score in many ways, Smith is rated a 4-star by 247 sports and Rivals. He is averaging 10.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 stls, and 1.7 through 7 games. Smith’s production has lead Sandy Creek to a 6-1 record ranking them 21st in the state of Georgia. I caught up with him about his recruitment and what he looks to show scouts for Stock Risers.


LJ: What offers do you have?

Jabari: I have offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, UAB, and Arkansas at Little Rock

LJ: What did you average last season?

Jabari: Didn’t average a lot. Averaged about 4 points

LJ: You were very impressive at the Holiday hoopsgiving. What are you looking to show scouts this season?

Jabari: Just looking to show them how versatile I am and show them the energy and drive to win I have when I play. Also looking to show my offensive abilities.

LJ: What schools are showing the most I interest?

Jabari: the two schools that have been showing the most interest are Georgia and Georgia Tech, but I did talk with the head coach of Ole Miss recently.

LJ: Do you plan to visit UALR? When?

Jabari: haven’t planned on visiting there

LJ: What are the dates of your upcoming visits?

Jabari: I do not have any upcoming scheduled visits.

LJ: What about your game has improved the most?

Jabari: I think my motor and confidence has improved the most since last year. Also my composure when I play. I also think I have improved my on and off ball defense. I have also improved my foot speed and strength.

LJ: What do you like about UALR?

Jabari: Do not know much about the school, but have talked to an assistant coach from their staff and he was pretty cool.
