Lexington Herald’s Ben Roberts discusses Oscar Tshiebwe-UK.

“I’ve been told Oscar loves UK’s pitch and the opportunity to come here, play and practice against other very talented big guys and prepare himself for the next step, the NBA,” Ben Roberts told Stockrisers.

Oscar Tshiebwe told Stockrisers two days ago that he will announce “in a week or so,” then told us the date will be October 21st: “I will announce it live from home on the 21st.”

He is fresh off of his West Virginia official visit and many think that could be the school he announces on October 21st, Kentucky is also a major darkhorse in this one. Ben Roberts who we introduced before said this on Kentucky’s chances:

“The Cats have a shot in this one week out from his announcement, but it’s tough to come up with a prediction I feel good about right now. He’s got a tough choice to make.”

Obviously if Kentucky misses they can still grab another big, James Wiseman, Vernon Carey, Matt Hurt, but a player like Oscar who is potentially one of the best rebounders in the country would be a rough miss, one you can recover from, but still a tough miss.

One final quote from Ben on Oscar:

“Oscar’s physicality, toughness, and non-stop motor would likely make
him an instant favorite of John Calipari’s if he were to come to
Kentucky. UK is recruiting several other big men in the 2019 class,
but they should also have several spots to fill. It wouldn’t be a
surprise at all if the Cats lose all four of their current frontcourt
players to the NBA after this season, so Oscar would likely get lots
of playing time in Lexington no matter who else commits from 2019
class. His ability to rebound and his all-around hard play should fit
well with whoever else Calipari gets for those frontcourt spots. I was
told Cal loved his game as soon as he started watching Oscar this past
