“Special thing about OSU is that I live 8 hours away but yet when I’m walking on the field at the game I hear the student section chanting my name.”
That’s one of the many things DJ Carton told me when I spoke to him last night.
Carton was on the rise this year, went from high-70’s but now currently sits as a top-20 prospect in the country. The 6-1 guard from Bettendorf, IA, chose the Buckeyes over Michigan and Indiana a few months back.
“It’s just a special place with people who show you love and support,” Carton said on his future school. Carton also said the atmosphere and his relationship with people in the program is outstanding.
But when things got serious in this interview it was when the name EJ Liddell was brought up. Liddell is the 47th best prospect in the 2019 class (should be higher), also someone who is super high on the Buckeyes radar.
What’s DJ Carton’s take, he broke it down:
“He’s one of us and I think this place fits him and will help him get ready for the next level.”
“I’ve spoken to him quite a bit since the visit and I still get a good vibe from it. I think he knows what OSU is about and knows what we bring to the table. I’m hoping he sees that he fits this family we have.”
After speaking to Carton on multiple occasions he’s shown his positivity every time towards Liddell to Ohio State. This would be huge for Ohio State who’s becoming a national powerhouse under Chris Holtmann.
