2019 three-star Sedrick Hammond talks recruitment.

 

 

2019 3-star point guard Sedrick Hammond is a top prospect that can impact the game on defense as well as offense. Hammond is 6-4 170 with explosive moves to the rim, he plays for Cathedral high school in Los Angeles, California. We talked about his interest in Creighton, Georgetown and other schools in his recruitment. Hammonds is the 33rd ranked prospect in California, 38th ranked point guard, and 289th ranked prospect in the 2019 class by 247 sports.

LJ: Is Georgetown recruiting you?

Sedrick: Currently not recruiting me as hard anymore

LJ: What do you like about Georgetown? Are they a school you are highly interested in?

Sedrick:  I really like the new coaching that they brought in & I believe they’ll do a very good job over the years and yes, I am highly interested in the program.

LJ: What has to stand out about a school?

Sedrick: Culture, Being in the best environment and playing style for me and I believe the coaches most importantly and a quality education.

LJ: What were your averages last season?

Sedrick: points 11.4, assists 4.7, rebounds 6.3, steals 2.3.

LJ: You have shown great explosion and good court vision in AAU play. What were the numbers of your best AAU game this season?

Sedrick: Not sure exactly what my best performance was but I can say I’ve had some pretty good games at my best I’ve put up some high 20 point games.

LJ: Do you plan to visit Georgetown?

Sedrick: I currently don’t plan on it but if something changes that would be great.

LJ: How do you feel about Creighton? What is your relationship with the coaches? When do you plan to visit?

Sedrick: I have pretty good feel about Creighton, ever since they started recruiting me and coming out to watch me it’s been a little different feel and I feel pretty comfortable with the staff.  I plan on taking a visit hopefully after the last live period early in the school year.

LJ: What schools have been recruiting you the hardest?

Sedrick: Tulane, Tulsa, Pacific, Hawaii, Colorado State, Creighton.

LJ: What’s the most important skill you possess?

Sedrick: I believe my most important skill is bringing my defensive abilities and athleticism translating to things on the offensive end but also my point guard skills and vision to make plays for others.

LJ: When do you plan to commit?

Sedrick: I plan on making commitment early into the school year.

LJ: Any schools that haven’t offered showing interest?

Sedrick:  Wichita State, Hawaii, Butler University

LJ: You possess unique skills at 6-4. What makes you one of the top floor generals in the nation?

Sedrick: I believe my defense abilities being able to guard multiple positions and even smaller guards, also be my ability to get to the rim and draw contact but being able to hit the 3 point shot a little bit also.
