2019’s Jeremiah Francis is one of the top players in all of Ohio. He had tons of college interest early in his recruitment. With offers from schools like Indiana, Florida State, Ohio State, and many others, Francis was easily gonna land at a top school.
But then… Francis picked up an offer from Roy Williams and the Tar Heels on August 2nd and that’s when Francis knew where he wanted to spend his college career.
“Wasn’t that hard of a process because it’s easy to adapt to UNC, I made my decision in about a week after I received the offer” Francis said.
We spoke to Francis on UNC, Roy Williams, 2018 class, and his easy decision
Francis: Really I mean UNC speaks for itself produced a lot of guys and also coach Williams 800+ wins multiple national championships and I want to be apart of that! And also he knows how to let his guards play and I that’s what I like.
Did you know UNC was the right place even that early in your recruitment?
Francis: Yes, it’s a college basketball city and always putting basketball first and it’s a great environment to be in And nothing beats playing in the dean dome.
You’re still a junior what’s it like walking around town and school — you’re a UNC commit, what’s that like?
Francis: don’t really let things like that get to my head, I️m a down to earth guy, always humble, but it’s a great feeling for me to know where I’m going to be spending my college career at for a wonderful staff. At a great school.
Any current Tar Heels or future ones that you have spoken to?
Francis: Colby White, Leaky (Rechon Black), Nassir Little which are 2018 signees — I’ve talked to them, and i know Sterling Manley who is already there we were high school teammates last year.
Talk about your journey to get where you are today
Francis: Really just a kid who loves and breathes the game and it’s been a long journey and I give all my credit to my parents, especially my dad who’s really put in the time critiquing my game to the point give me comparisons and also seeing the great players he had coached! And just him teaching me the game
Have you given your recruiting pitch to any guys in your class?
Francis: I mean they know it’s North Carolina and I️t has a lot of history behind I️t. Coach Williams is one of the greatest coaches in this game … so that’s really the pitch.
Favorite college player right now?
Francis: I like players I can compare myself to so Jalen Brunson from Villanova.
How much do facilities and environments have an impact on your decision?
Francis: Huge impact I want to feel like right at home, and UNC has great top-notch facilities and machinery for my body to recover and get prepared for everyday college life.
Francis added he would love to get down to visit for the Duke v UNC game.
