PORTAL: Schools reaching out to Nimari Burnett

Nimari Burnett was a key member of Prolific Prep’s program over the past few years and instantly became one of the best scorers in school history. He then turned into a McDonald’s All-American, the first in Texas Tech program history. Now, he has entered the transfer portal after appearing in 10 games this season for the Red Raiders.

Burnett averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in limited minutes. Jamarius Burton and Mac McClung had been getting a load of the minutes but Burnett showed many flashes this season and will get extended minutes wherever he lands.

The following programs reached out to Burnett, he told Stockrisers.com:

Oregon, San Diego State, Colorado State, Illinois, Vandy, South Carolina, Alabama, Dayton, Mizzou, Arizona State, Maryland, Wake Forest, DePaul, USC, and Marquette.

Prior to his commitment to the Red Raiders, the heaviest programs involved were Alabama, Michigan, and Oregon. He took all of his official visits but ultimately chose Lubbock. But as he has entered the portal, two of those programs (Bama and Oregon), have already reached out to Burnett which is something worth noting.

On another note, Burnett attended Morgan Park (IL) prior to his high school transfer to Prolific Prep. Illinois is considered home to him and the Fighting Illini’ have also reached out to Nimari Burnett as he has entered the transfer portal.

He currently has no timeline for a commitment and will let the process play out as the first 24 hours in the transfer portal approach for him.
